Cest is d’Best 2010 Review

The oldest street festival in Croatia Cest is d’Best saw Zagreb explode with music, art, dance and entertainment in June 2010. Tens of thousands made there way to Zagreb this summer to join in with wild and wonderful activities that take place during this annual event. Cest is d’Best first started fourteen years ago and was founded by Pajo and Hadji from Zagrebs King Street two local buskers who hit the big time.

The festival is known for its eccentric mix of sporting activities, educational workshops and eclectic entertainment program. The 7th welcomed classical music and dancing. Over 200 performers took centre stage in Ban Jelacic Square for ‘Dance Action zgroznica’ at the Music Pavilion. The 8th saw the circus performers take to the streets, the group who came from Portugal could be seen entertaining the international crowds with their lavish routines.

The locals joined in with the obscure events. As well as the circus performers and street dancers the squares filled up with Zagreb’s musicians, painters, cleaners, waiters, teachers and cooks all willing to participate and join in with the festivals good feeling. Check out the Cest is d’Best official website to see what’s in stall for you next year. Each year the festival gets better and better so a trip to Zagreb during the month of June guarantees an eventful vacation.
